Attempting to break out of the theoretical arms of school internet filtering services.

The theory behind it is easy right?

Set up a proxy server, hide your IP and encrypt the pages you've viewed so that your school's pesky IT woman can't do much about it other than kindly ask for the person that is doing it to stop.. fat chance of that you think to yourself as you type up your blog of success... Stupidly acknowledging that you are not learning from the mistakes of people like Mark Zuckerburg, who would slap you if he was beside you, Which you wouldn't actually mind at all. To quote my room mate a few seconds ago, "It's tradition" Credit is nice when its not too serious of an OP.

Pity i can't get it to work at the moment so eh?

Let's try a more conventional, old school route untill I get better means of research. Unfiltered internet.

Wordle of this Blog

A Wordle is an image made out of words. The words are taken from a blog or any page with an RSS feed type layout. The size of the word indicates its frequency on the page.

It's a cool way to see whats discussed on a page. I'd love to see them for all of googles searches...

Smart Phones... they should have been called impractical battery phones.

Herrgerrburg... is a full days battery too much to ask?
Do we really need all that bloat ware?
Dafuq is Polaris anyway!?

Let's get started, shall we? We shall.

I currently have an Android HTC One V phone. And its the best phone I've had yet (not hard) but its just lacking a small bit. You see it just isn't for me anymore, for a number of reasons;

WARNING! Another list may spontaneously appear here..

Anyway, when I first started using my phone I didn't really fully exploit the full internet capabilities. As a result of this the battery was never really a problem. The only problem is the phone tends to be a bit slow and laggy, due to its not so "top-of-the-rangeness" if that's a term. I'd say its a slightly above average smartphone. It does the job like.
Nowadays as I devote more and more of my life to the internet, the battery just isn't doing the job. And in all fairness its about as good as an iPhone or a top Android phone. Which isn't great like.

So I'm kinda wanting a better one, just to have the smoother experience, becasue the battery seems to be the same anyway.

My heart isn't in this post anymore, but I'm going to post it anyway.

That is all.

Taking Sides

Apple or Microsoft.
Bit of a pickle innit?

I bought my laptop in the US there about 3 weeks ago and I had absolutely no idea whether to go with a MacBook or a PC. Obviously this is a heated debate that is fought, by brave and dedicated keyboard warriors, on many fronts daily and I had decided it was important that I declared my allegiance.

I was having lunch with Dad and we were weighing up the pros and cons of each manufacturer which I naturally feel compelled to mention them briefly and roughly here. I think that may be apart of the problem, people arguing the Apple/PC argument fail to go into enough detail and end up offending the other side by the failure to do so. The two product ranges share many similar characteristics and the key differences are often quite minute, hence why the detail becomes important. Anyway, I digress, here is what i concluded with Dad at that fateful lunchtime pizza diner, in lower midtown Manhatten;

Macbook
 • Stylish
 • Nice Interface
 • Great Customer Support
 • Quite Virus Safe
 • The App and iTunes Store
PC
 • More customisable
 • Better for Gaming
 • Better Product Choice
 • Much Much Cheaper for identical Tech Specs.
 • More familiar for Navigation
 • Huge amount of producers (e.g. Dell, Sony, Asus, HP)
Anyway, the key factors for me which swung my choice towards Microsoft and the PC were, customization, price, Gaming Choice and familiarity.
The biggest of the above being customization and price. In my humble opinion I think Apple products are overpriced, by how much its hard to tell, but definitely overpriced. Also, in terms of Tech Specs, I wanted what I would use and wasn't interested in anything above or below that.

At the end of the day I purchased an ASUS built Microsoft 14" Laptop running Windows 8.(Which I quite like, potential further post to come on that) The Technical Specifications are; 8 GB RAM, Intel Core i7 Processor, 750 GB Hard Drive, Back-lit keyboard and a 7 hour battery life (Better than most iPhones)

That is all.

P.S. On the subject of Phones, I have also stayed down the Android root for my smartphone. Simply for customisation, battery life and price. It would take a lot to push me down the iPhone route although they are quite nice to look at. I'll probably post about this later

The old time storytellers of the present. A brief synopsis.

Back in the day when people use to go to hear storytellers and gather around fires to be told foclore and stories they thought it to be a gift. A storytelling gift that you were born with.
Then a load of stuff happened and time past and suddenly these storytellers are gone.
Because theres this small thing called the internet and life moves quite quickly all of a sudden. Now people don't have time.
This is what I originally thought.
But then I reached the conclusion, that storytellers have moved on. Become better and smarter. They live on. Through comedians. And they're perfect, priceless. Worth listening to.

That is all.

A new era and a new concept.

I suppose you could argue that Twitter is the On-the-go blog.. But sometimes you just can't get the point across in 140 characters. Thank god for the hyperlink I suppose.
I mean who actually sits down at a computer to tweet? It's all mobile.
Blogs are more of a calculated and thought through. Like a broadsheet newspaper versus a hand out flyer.
Nonetheless I am still downloading the mobile Blogger app as I type, otherwise I will completely forget about this and waste it.

On the other hand, sometimes it's hard to be concise when you don't have a cap on your characters. You end up beating around the bush and really not getting your point across anywhere near as concisely. Much like this blog. The first line of this would have done and you could have taken it as you wanted and the main point would have still come across. Instead I have just typed about a months worth of tweets..

"I'm writing you a long letter because I don't have time to write you a short one"

@CrayolaKiller by the way..

It's also quite hard to end a blog.. You feel like you need to keep going, maybe because you've been beating around the bush you don't quite realise when you actually hit it.

That line or two was the perfect example.. It wasn't necessary yet it was added.

That is all.

A Maverick Blog

I have no intentions to stick to one subject/topic area with this blog. It's a thought dump. Just like blogs should be I suppose...
